Songs to either breakdown or breakdance. You decide.
A fun song with sad or sometimes even dark lyrics. It’s like hiding the pain from the catchy and happy beats. These are some of the songs that I know will make you dance (or at least bop your head) and cry at the same time. It’s possible. Speaking from my own experience.

First up in this list is the song Hard Times by Paramore. Honestly, I could just list almost all of the songs from their After Laughter album cause that’s the theme of the album (to dance and cry at the same time) but I want to share some other songs too so I just picked Hard Times. It’s about the struggles of life and just wanting to feel better. But its funky tunes make it hard not to dance while singing.

“Pain, pain go away, Come back another day,
I just wanna get one up on life before it kills me.” -Where Do We Go When We Go, Neck Deep
This first line in Where Do We Go When We Go is so cool because it mimics the nursery rhyme “Rain, Rain go away, Comeback another day” but instead they replaced it with “pain”. It’s a rock song with heavy drums and guitar sounds that makes you want to head bang but if you listen to it while having your midlife crisis (you know, 3-am-thinking-about-life-things), the lyrics will really resonate in you.
When will the voices stop making trouble inside?

Voices is about wanting to make the dark inner voices inside us to just disappear and leave us alone. It’s a pop song with catchy melodies and beats that makes you want to dance.

And my heart’s turned cold since you left my life” -Rain, The Script
I really love the chorus of this song. I don’t know how to describe it. All I can say is that it has a fun beat and it talks about a guy who misses his girl who left him. Perfect for all the heartbroken people out there.

I’ll meet you forever in this memory -eight, IU ft. Suga
This one is about missing someone that passed away and he/she hopes that they are happy wherever they are. It also talks about reliving the memories they had together and wanting to stay there forever. This one really doesn’t have a dance-y feeling to it but it has a refreshing sound with slight hints of drums.
